#5 Look at Me by Anita Brookner

Most of the books I've read by Anita Brookner were written after this book, but the voice is incredibly consistent throughout the books. It's like she writes about me in each one; a single woman just living it alone and noticing all that is around her, and how she fits in it.

Question of the day: Can people more comfortable alone write about groups as if they belonged?
